Our In-Store Layout

Our in store layout is a 10' X 40' Dual-Gauge, Digitrax DCC controlled layout. The layout is based on a D&RGW theme, with several bridges and tunnels. The layout's main attraction is the custom built arch bridge located directly behind the sales counter. The layout has 2 good size switching/yard areas, each with its own turntable.

The majority of the structures on the layout are scratchbuilt or kitbashed and have interiors! The layout has miniature lights in several areas, and adjustable dimmer-controlled lighting to create the perfect ambiance for hours of viewing and operating pleasure.

The layout is designed to be a teaching layout demonstrating various construction and scenery techniques.
The layout is in 4 main sections, using different techniques:

Table-top construction with pink foam - fairly level terrain.

Hardshell mountain area featuring a very long arch bridge.

Shelf type construction for a switching area and moderate terrain with a bridge.

Benchwork with shelves below for a yard/city area.

Future plans include computerization/automation capability, and miniature in-train cameras for viewing in the store and on Internet.
